Within these broad categories there are wide varieties of hook types designed for different applications. Hook types differ in shape, materials, points and barbs, and eye type and ultimately in their intended application.
When individual hook types are designed the specific characteristics of each of these hook components are optimized relative to the hook’s intended purpose.

Posted on November 9, Things are going well for saltwater anglers in North Florida. The headliners of the gulf coast shallows, speckled trout, are chunky, abundant, and biting. The fall mackerel run has been a good one, and plenty of big macks are still being pulled from banks and reefs a short run from shore. Out deeper, bottom fishers are wrestling increasing numbers of good grouper from water to feet deep.
With lakes still in nice shape level-wise, freshwater fishers feel that their finny targets should, too, be biting. But, while bass action is decent and slowly improving, fans of speckled perch are perplexed. Specks typically go on an all-out feed when the November winds begin to blow cool, hunting down minnow schools out in mid-lake depths. Nobody has a good theory as to why the crappie fishing is so slow during the prime season, but they remain hopeful that the specks will soon hit their fall feeding stride.
In many ways, speckled trout are the saltwater equivalent of the speckled perch, and they are certainly cooperating better than their smaller freshwater counterparts. While pre-fishing for reds, a number of teams have caught hefty trout instead.

So I have been FTD here as of late.. But I have been really enjoying it.. And having a triptofan hangover is a serious impediment.. But I am about over it.. Fishing here on Falcon is really on the upswing as the fish seem to be adjusting to the cooler water temps and the semi stabilization of water level.. Although we are still creeping up slowly. Water temps are in the low sixties.. Quite a change from a few weeks ago.. As of this morning, we are sitting at Which is about five feet lower than we were at this time last year..
But I ain’t complaining..

How to Hook Live Bait Follow these five tips for more — and better — bites. By George Poveromo posted Mar 16th, at 4: Recently, a friend and I were drifting live pilchards over the South Florida reefs. The current was slow, so we placed a few baits at the surface. I hooked a pilchard near its throat, and free-lined it on a spinning rod. By briefly stopping the line to restrict its forward motion, I made the bait surge forward to cover more territory.
